Daffodils School Silchar | A premier educational institution of Silchar & Cachar District

Education is the essence by which we can pluck the flowers of knowledge and harvest the fruits of learning. The children are like flowers and they need tender care to bloom from buds. One has to realize one’s own true self through the process of education.

Daffodils school has shown an indomitable spiritthat establishes its accomplishments. It now celebrates 25 years of firm foundation. And on the eve of its Silver Jubilee in January 2020, I wish to go down the memory lane. Daffodils School was founded by our father Late Nirmalendu Dey in the year 1994 on his own residential premises on 31st January 1994. He was a devout follower of 108 Swami Nigomananda Saraswati Paramahanasadev and a pious person who always thoughtfor the welfare of the society. The Journey of the school started with the intention of imparting qualityand value based education at an affordable cost, and to stand committed to transparency, excellence and integrity in all its endeavours to reach its goal. Since the inception of the school in 1994, the school has progressed gradually seeing two full-fledgedprincipals in a span of 25 years. The first principal was Ms. Arundhati Som, whose mission was to develop this school with earnest endeavour and adroit and tender care. The school started with 24 no's of children of Nurseryclass. The first group of teachers who joined and looked after the Nursery class were Ms. Mausumi Shome, Ms. Pinki Dutta, Subsequently Ms. Anayati Deb, Ms. Sumona Paul Choudhury, Ms. Sushmita Paul rendered the valuable Service as teachers of the school. “Let the spirit Bloom”- being the motto of the school, Ms. Arundhati Som, who herself framed the motto, wanted to materialize it in letter and spirit. By her guidance and spirit the 24 children of the first batch flourished and the roll strength went up to cross the century mark in the next year. The commitment, discipline and thesystematic approach of Ms. Arundhati Som, as principal from the year 1994 onwards ameliorated the standard of the school and the school became one of the leading schools of the town within a short period. Leadership is the essential resource for creating and sustaining an institution. Daffodils School had the privilege of having dynamic leaders committed towards academic excellence. Mr. Subrata Dey a distinguished Teacher of Barak valley, took over the reins from Ms. Arundhati Som in the year 2004 and that was a hall mark in the history of the school and the first batch of students appeared for class-X Board examination In the year 2005. They procured cent percent Result for the school and this trend has continued till date. With the leadership of Principal, Mr Subrata Dey and earnest and expert careof vice principal Ms. Babi Dutta Dey and some senior teachers like Barnali Miss, Lopa Miss, Mandira Miss, Pratima Miss and others who worked like a team to develop this institution, the school progressed by leaps and boars. Roll strength of the school soared every year and the present strength is 1200+.

The determination of the management, the professional honesty of the staff and hard work of the students, the Cooperation at the parents/guardians, and unstinted support of other stakeholders and the neighbours have contributed to the remarkable growth of the institution during the arduous journey towards both Scholastic and co-scholastic excellence.

On this occasion, I remember withgratitudethe contribution of my mother Late Malati Dey, who was founder Chairperson of the Daffodils Educational trust and president of the SMC of Daffodils school. I alsoremember with gratitude the servicesof all teaching and non-teaching staff of the school and all the teachers who served the school from time to time and contributed to the growth of this institution with their sincere and dedicatedservice working like a composite family. Conspicuously I pay tributes to Late Bikash Ranjan Dutta Sir, ex-teacher of the School, Late Usha Chakraborty incharge of the school in the incipient stage; Late Biswajeet Choudhury and Late Prosenjit Bhattacharjee sometime teachers of the School and Late Uttam Deb a member of the staff all of whom servedthe school in its formative years.

When we honour the past, we energies the future and the present becomes a Celebration. Let us all rejoice at the glory of daffodils school in itsSilver Jubilee and pray to the Almighty to bless us for eternal development of the school.
